Hilarity for Charity
Tonight at 7:30 at the Avalon in Hollywood, Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller will host a comedy and variety show so good that it will shake the shekels from your wallet and benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. Even if you can’t go be sure to visit the website (click the poster to the left) and donate generously.
The party will feature performances and appearances by Kevin Hart, Mindy Kaling, Seth Rogen, Nick Kroll, Bo Burnham, Ken Marino, John Mulaney, Justin Willman, Billy Eichner, Garfunkel & Oates, Sadie & The Blue Eyed Devils, plus many more special guests still to be announced!
If you have never visited the Avalon in Hollywood then know you are stepping back through an illustrious entertainment history begun in 1927 when it opened as the Hollywood Playhouse. Also once named the El Capitan Theater (before Disney got their hands on the Paramount Theater around the corner) and the Jerry Lewis Theater (for Jerry’s weekly television variety show), this is today a rocking nightclub where all the best people of Los Angeles show up to party!
We are hoping that our private Los Angeles tour guests will be eager to visit the club after their custom luxury tour around Hollywood and Beverly Hills especially if they go this evening to help out families suffering from the scourge of Alzheimer’s disease.
Clint Black, You Still Get to Us
We here at Elite Adventure Tours would like to wish Clint Black a very happy birthday today. His melodious and meaningful songs have been moving us for many years and we really appreciate his artistry, his music and his voice. We recently learned that Clint supports the efforts to raise research money and awareness for Rett Syndrome, a little known developmental condition with dire outcomes. Please take a moment to wish Clint a happy birthday and then visit the Spending Time Ending Rett website to learn how you can help. Should you ever find yourself on a private luxury tour of Hollywood with us make sure we include in our sightseeing a visit to Clint’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Thanksgiving Laugh Feast at the Laugh Factory
Are you looking for something completely different to do around Los Angeles for Thanksgiving? Let us suggest a Hollywood tradition — Thanksgiving dinner at the Laugh Factory on Sunset Boulevard. Having served more than 150,000 hungry folks over the years, the Laugh Factory offers 4 seatings (1, 3, 5 and 7 p.m.) with a full turkey dinner and trimmings followed by a comedy show. Equally important — it’s FREE! Expect to see celebrities and comedy heroes serving food and jokes for the lively crowd. We entertain our private luxury tour guests sightseeing through Hollywood with tales of the Laugh Factory and its colorful history and we always mention their contribution to the community at Thanksgiving.
Doo Dah, Doo Dah!
Pasadena is a great city, well operated, major technical university, rocket scientists, historic homes, a magnificent bridge, oh, and that annual New Years Day parade that everyone watches on television before the football game. But when it comes time to loosen its tie, unbutton its collar, slip into something more comfortable and untwist its knickers there is nothing more fun, irreverent and licentious then the annual Doo Dah Parade.
Saturday, April 28th
11:00 a.m.
Colorado Boulevard in East Pasadena
This year’s 35th Annual Doo Dah Parade promises the likes of Snotty Scotty & the Hankies, League of Steam, Conehead Rocket Sled, Hippie Cream, Easy Acres Chicken Sitters, Balkan Brass Band and Mile High Bed, the Army of Toy Soldiers, Mobile Cupcakes, the BBQ & Hibachi Marching Grill Team, Boo Boo Kitty, and the Billionaires. Toss tortillas, look for hidden celebrities like Barry Gordon and Tim Roth, and be a part of the festivities as the paraders march by. It’s cheap (FREE) and easy like the parade queen herself. Sponsored by the Lightbringer Project, a worthy arts foundation, make it a point to join in the fun. Search the internet for Doo Dah and visit their website for more or less information. DUDAMEL CONDUCTS TCHAIKOVSKY
Through March 13. Tchaikovsky held Shakespeare in the highest esteem. He even tried learning English so he could read the Bard in the original. As the result of his passion, Tchaikovsky composed three single-movement orchestral fantasies or overtures inspired by Shakespeare plays – Hamlet, The Tempest and Romeo and Juliet. At these performances each of these works are preceded by selections from the plays, with Orlando Bloom as Romeo, Anika Noni Rose as Juliet, Malcolm McDowell as Prospero, and Matthew Rhys as Hamlet. This great cast of celebrities, is a great addition to the performance. Celebs such as these are possibilities for star tours in Hollywood. This’ll allow you to get up close and personal with certain stars. Kate Burton serves as director, as well as host for the LA Phil LIVE broadcast on March 13, will be simulcast to movie theatres across the U.S. and Canada.
