Local Mixologists Shake Up Gift Baskets at Bar Keeper
If you’ve got a cocktail lover on your holiday shopping list, we just heard about these amazing gift baskets at Silver Lake’s Bar Keeper that put the city’s best bartender’s in your hands.
There have been so many occasions that I have been asked about “gift baskets” on our private Hollywood tours. Bar Keeper has selected some of the city’s premiere mixologists to curate this gift basket series, like The Varnish’s Eric Alperin and Chris Bostick, Rivera’s Julian Cox, La Descarga’s Steve Livigni, Roosevelt’s Library Bar’s Matt Biancaniello, Neve Ice’s Michel Dozois, and more. For these spirited holiday gifts, we love that the twist is that they’re all about LA. 3910 West Sunset Boulevard Los Angeles, CA 90029-2242

Which Local Cities are the Most Dangerous in the Nation?
New rankings released today by CQ Press reveal which of America’s cities are the most and least dangerous. Of the over 400 cities evaluated, only three area cities show up in the first 50 most dangerous cities: Compton (#8), San Bernardino (#34) and Inglewood (#44). Los Angeles came in at #158 on the list. Other area cities in the top half of the most dangerous are South Gate (#81), Hawthorne (#121), Long Beach (#138), Lancaster (#164), Norwalk (#170), Downey (#187), Santa Ana (#196), El Monte (#198) and Palmdale (#200).
On private Los Angeles tours guests are always asking us about the safest places in LA. “The crime rankings are calculated using six crime categories: murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and motor vehicle theft,” explains CBS2. “The rankings include all cities of at least 75,000 residents that reported crime data to the FBI in the six categories for calendar year 2009.”
It’s not all bad news in SoCal, though. Several local cities are among the safest in the nation, like Mission Viejo (#4), Lake Forest (#7), and Irvine (#10). Other top-ranking safe spots include Simi Valley (#16), Thousand Oaks (#18), Orange (#17), Newport Beach (#31), Glendale (#34), Huntington Beach (#39), and Temecula (#47). PETA Names UCLA Most Vegan-Friendly College Campus
Turns out a “Bruin” isn’t necessarily a carnivorous beast: PETA has named UCLA”the most Vegan-Friendly College in the U.S.” among larger schools, besting 31 others in the process, which was a bracketing system compared to college basketball’s “March Madness.” PETA2 Director Dan Shannon singles out UCLA as a role model for nutrition education, adding: “More and more young people are learning that the best thing that they can do for animals, the planet, and themselves is to go vegan.” Though animal rights are a huge issue at UCLA, their dining halls offer several vegan options for students. On our private Los Angeles tours it is often considered unique by our clients to have a plethora of various vegan dining options. (h/t Squid Ink)
The Truth about Santa

As a result, he is available to join our clients on private Hollywood tours that allow folks to get the most unique Holiday photos ever; posing with Santa by the Hollywood Sign, next to the Helicopter or with the beautiful Pacific ocean in the background! He is a cool cat, and we love his shades! Check out our Santa video!
