Just in time for awards season, several cultural venues provide windows into Hollywood history. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art presents Larry Fink: Hollywood, 2000–2009 opening Feb. 13, which focuses on the photographer’s snaps from Vanity Fair’s annual Oscar night party. The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandise offers its fascinating annual exhibition The Art of Motion Picture Costume Design, opening Feb. 8, which looks at diverse and often sumptuous costumes from more than 20 films from 2010, we will definitely be talking about this diplay on our private Los Angeles tours. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, responsible for the Academy Awards, presents two exhibitions on figures of the film industry: Masters of the Close Up, Up Close: Portraits of Cinematographers by Owen Roizman and Bob Peak: Creating the Modern Movie Poster.
