The ROOF ON WILSHIRE

Eric Greenspan helms the kitchen atop the new Hotel Wilshire, a newly opened 74-room boutique hotel in the Miracle Mile. Pull up a chair poolside and soak up panoramic views of the LA basin, it’s nothing like taking a Los Angeles sightseeing tour. Greenspan cooks up everything from breakfast to bar bites featuring selections such as pancake lasagna, Wilshire grilled cheese, Wilshire burger (which rivals the Foundry on Melrose burger) absinthe steamed mussels, nori nachos, and much more. Wash it all down with a vast selection of crafted cocktails in addition to wine and beer menus.

The Lomography Gallery Store Los Angeles

It seems as if all the cool kids are toting Lomography analogue cameras, the inexpensive snappers that have inspired a million smartphone apps with the dynamic, saturated, vintage-esque results of their photos. This, I would have to say, is among one of the most original shops to see while touring Los Angeles, The Lomography Gallery Store Los Angeles, the largest Lomography Gallery in the world, supports the burgeoning community of Lomographers” by offering the brand’s cameras—such as the multi-lens, fish-eye, pinhole and classic Lomo LC-A+ models—plus accessories including 50-plus varieties of film as well as vintage refurbished Russian cameras. What’s more, the two-story location offers lounges, film processing services and workshops. With cameras starting at a mere $30, it’s easy to picture L.A. in a fresh way.

Buffet Brunch, The Terrace

The massive hotel buffet brunch appears to be slowly fading from fashion in L.A., as many diners are reluctant to overindulge in broad daylight. In New York, these gastronomic extravaganzas have experienced a resurgence, but most Angelenos simply plan such gluttonous affairs for their next trip to Las Vegas. What a win win scenario, you get fantastic brunch, and a fantastic hotel, all while you take a tour of LA. At the Langham, Huntington Hotel, the grand landmark in Pasadena, the once-lavish brunch at The Terrace has been scaled down to a more laid-back presentation, with an affordable breakfast buffet and à la carte menu.

Louis XV antique gilt mirrors, a fuschia carpet and an antiqued chandelier provide a backdrop for more than 186 styles of the shoes.
