Through Oct. 23. When a mother ties her son to a mountain lion to make him strong, and a father won’t allow his daughter out of the house to protect her virtue, it’s going to take a Texas-sized, foot stompin’, genre-rompin’ (everything from western ballads to metal to opera with a crispy side of R&B) sensory assault to bring these star-crossed lovers together. I’m hoping it’s going to be as fun and witty as it sounds, it’s looking to be a great place to check out this week while touring LA. West Hollywood Halloween Costume Carnaval

Mark Hanauer: Personal Nature
Acclaimed photographer Mark Hanauer premieres his first collection of botanical photos at the Huntington Botanical Gardens, as part of their “Focus on Flowers” exhibition, which runs through Nov. 1. Hanauer’s exploration of botanicals began upon a visit the Huntington Botanical Gardens, where he got lost in the beauty, color, and shapes that appeared thought the gardens. Mohawk Bend Opens in Echo Park
As a craft-everything restaurant and bar, new Mohawk Bend is poised to become Echo Park’s go-to dining and drinking destination. The venue boasts 65 California beers on tap plus five from an out-of-state brewer featured each month; true ale enthusiasts will appreciate the two-firkin cask system. Mohawk’s handcrafted cocktail program features a cultivated collection of 100 California-sourced spirits. Specialty drinks include the Firestation 20, a twist on the classic Fireman’s Sour, made with Crusoe Silver Rum, fresh lime juice, Fruit Lab Organic Hibiscus Liqueur, soda and a brandied cherry.
