Extend Your Private Tour to
Long Beach and the Queen Mary
There are more parties, balls and galas in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve than you can even read about on a website or in a newspaper or magazine. We Angelenos party well and what better occasion to celebrate than the start of a new year! For weeks now our private Los Angeles tour guides and office staff have been queried by our guests about where to head for a great New Year’s party. Each Elite Adventure Tours person has a different idea but we all agree that if you have never been on the Queen Mary then that is where to head. The Queen Mary Auld Lang Shine theme this year is to create on the ship seven of the destinations visited by the ocean liner in 1966: Cannes, Cartegena, Mykonos, Alexandria (Egypt), Tangier, Portofino and New York City. A tour of the world in one night. Read more about the party on the Queen Mary website and head over to Long Beach for a night to remember.
Sculpture Impresses Our Private Tour Guests
The impressive Rupert Mok sculpture of two golden dragons rises over the roadway leading into the downtown side of Chinatown, the Golden Dragon Gateway. Dedicated in 2001 the location draws visitors from the nearby Olvera Street historic district over and into a district itself historic. While Olvera Street dates back to the earliest days of Los Angeles and its founding, Chinatown only goes back to the the era of the California Gold Rush and the building of the Transcontinental Railroad. Chinatown was originally located where Union Station stands today and it was the construction of that beautiful train station that forced the relocation of Chinatown to its present location where it has prospered. Vibrant with Asian culture, exotic shops and restaurants and a healthy art community, Chinatown is a destination for all visitors interested in Los Angeles and its multi-cultural origins and development. A walking tour from 2003 is still a good way to learn about Chinatown and the immediate vicinity either alone or with us on a private Los Angeles tour.
Our Private Tour Sees the
Best of the Beaches
The clouds always part after a short stay in Los Angeles and the sun shines through to reveal a beautiful city. Wide beaches form the western border of our fair metropolis which draw waders, swimmers, surfers and strollers all through the year. Between Malibu and Manhattan Beach there is Santa Monica whose beach is split by a pier full of amusements, rides, souvenirs and food offerings to entertain and delight all of our private Los Angeles tour guests. We walk our guests along the palisades and look down on the homes built along the Pacific Coast Highway, some historic movie star homes built in the 1920s when there was not much else around here and it seemed a long drive through open space back to Hollywood. Whether you are here for the sunshine or sightseeing be sure to direct your luxury private tour guide to bring you to the beaches of Los Angeles.
Our Private Tour Can Educate
Our Guests About Wine
California is all about wine. While the Napa Valley in northern California is world renowned our own southern California Santa Ynez Valley has become famous in the past several decades (in large part due to the success of the novel and film SIDEWAYS). But wine is grown, bottled and distributed these days throughout the state and is a major component of the state’s tremendous agricultural output. And where does one keep the fine wine collected in travels throughout the state? If you live in Los Angeles there is The Wine Hotel on 3rd Street near Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Wine collections can be safely cellared here in the perfect environment to keep the wine fresh and available for consumption. The Wine Hotel also has its own collection of fine wines available for purchase. A wine club provides enthusiasts with healthy discounts on wine as well as reviews and information. Best of all, on the First Thursday of every month The Wine Hotel hosts a wine event at Republique on La Brea. If you love wine then enjoy a private Los Angeles tour where we show you the best places to find and enjoy fine wine around the city.
Our Private Tour Takes You to the
Hollywood Sign to Look at Houses
Every city has its landmarks, those sights and locations that every visitor must experience to know they were in that metropolis. Ask anyone what is the most famous destination in Los Angeles and they will tell you it is the Hollywood Sign. Since 1923 those letters in one form or another, and in good, bad and then good condition, have been luring sightseers up to Mt. Lee above Hollywood to marvel at this iconic symbol of the entertainment industry. At the same time the sign went up there were homes being constructed along the ridges and up and down the hillsides. After all, the original sign, HOLLYWOODLAND, was just a billboard for a new housing development when the movie studios were remaking the sleepy town neighborhoods and turning the worlds’ eyes to Hollywood. Our private Los Angeles tour takes our guests up here to see and photograph the sign but we spend time describing the notable homes and characters who populated this lofty area from way back then until right now.
Our Exclusive Private Tour of
Malibu Rocky Oaks Estate and Vineyard
The estate has its own helipad which affords us a faster and more exciting means to reach the mountaintop above the sea where Malibu Rocky Oaks Estate (MRO) and Vineyard is situated. By no means do our private tour guests electing to drive with us up to the estate for an exclusive and private tour regret the journey. The coast route and the mountain highway offer regular breathtaking views of Santa Monica Bay and the local coast mountain range. Celebrity mansions, movie star ranches and all sorts of historic and memorable sights appear along our various routes between Los Angeles and MRO. Once at the estate we can really appreciate the architecture and design of the structure. All our custom tours to MRO include wine tasting of the estate’s own vintages which are fast becoming prized by the wine drinking community. As this fabulous estate is a luxury home we can arrange for some of the amenities one might expect: a gourmet meal, private massage, entertainment, whatever our guests can think of we can make happen.
Our Private Tour Waves to Santa Who
Soars above Beverly Hills
Beverly Hills is one of the best decorated cities around when it comes to the winter holidays. Despite there being no snow Santa Claus is still wearing his full winter outfit and his tiny reindeer are jacketed even in the balmy southern California sunshine. Day or night the signs of Christmas are all around especially in the store windows along Rodeo Drive and throughout the Golden Triangle. Join us for a private Los Angeles tour and let us take you around to see the decorations and enjoy the holiday spirit throughout the city and along the beaches. Want more holiday magic? Plan an after dark tour so we can visit the neighborhoods with the best holiday light shows and then Christmas Tree Lane in Altadena.
Hollywood’s Favorite Train Station Can
Begin Our Private Tour
Union Station is seventy-five years old and still hustling passengers back and forth to their local as well as distant destinations every day. As the largest train depot in the west it is likely the most seen by film lovers and television watchers as the Hollywood studios are regularly parking their trucks and caravans out front to film. Need a train station? Call Union Station. And this station is really ready for its closeup. It is beautiful inside and out. Stucco, tile, wood and steel create a large space for waiting and dining. The station’s significant architectural history bespeaks a “Los Angeles” style that gave the city a unique look in the 30s and 40s. The last of the Harvey House restaurants built as part of a passenger depot was here, sadly unused today. Many of our private Los Angeles tour guests arrive in L.A. by train and we can pick them up right here at the station and begin a custom luxury tour that can conclude at their hotel. Besides enjoying the station we can walk them across the main road to look at Olvera Street, the historic birthplace of the great city of Los Angeles (El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles de Porciúncula). Adjacent to Olvera Street is Chinatown which was once located right where Union Station was constructed.

Our Private Tour Guests Can Also
Enjoy a Stadium Tour
Pasadena gets the country’s attention on New Years Day for two reasons: the Tournament of Roses Parade in the morning and the Rose Bowl game in the afternoon. Parade lovers and those able to awaken early on January 1st are treated to one of the most beloved and historic processions of floats, marching bands, animals and entertainers we ever get to enjoy. What a way to begin a new year. But that’s not all. After lunch begins the contest for the best college football team. This year begins the new BCS (Bowl Championship Series) tournament-style format to determine the best of the college teams in the U.S. Those fortunate enough to get tickets to watch the game in this century old stadium that is the 11th largest in the U.S. and the rest of us watching on television will get to see the Oregon Ducks (ranked #3) versus the Florida State Seminoles (ranked #2). We will be urging our private Los Angeles tour guests booking custom luxury sightseeing excursions with us to reserve their tickets immediately (we can help with that). We will be happy to include Pasadena and the Rose Bowl Stadium on any tour we do including a look inside the stadium for a view of the field, press and luxury boxes and locker and training rooms. The site of two past Olympics, four Superbowls and numerous other significant athletic events the Rose Bowl really is a gem in the Los Angeles area.
