A Small Shot of the Whisky
Birthplace of the Los Angeles Rock ‘n Roll Scene
Still a Tour Favorite
First there was the Whisky a Go-Go and Johnny Rivers. Soon after came the Rainbow Bar & Grill and the Roxy. But it was the Whiskey that started it all and that remains the flagship rock ‘n roll venue in Los Angeles. The big red corner building on Sunset Boulevard on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood began its history in 1964 and through countless young music lovers continues hosting the latest in rock music today. Groups making their name at the Whiskey include The Doors, The Turtles, Guns and Roses, Metallica and Mötley Crüe. A list of performers in this past 50 years would include everybody who is anybody in rock ‘n roll. When we have guests on a custom private Los Angeles tour interested in the musical history of Los Angeles we are sure to spend time around the Whiskey and its sister music venues. Be sure to visit the Whisky a Go-Go this year as it celebrates half a century of music history.
