Harrison Ford’s Golf Course Landing Strip
Harrison Ford Leaves a Divot and an Impression
on Our Private Tour
Our helicopter tour of Los Angeles is generally a big circle that includes close looks at downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Malibu and the shoreline, and all points along the way. At one point we traverse Santa Monica Airport. From here we can see exactly where Harrison Ford used the adjacent Penmar public golf course to crash land his 1942 Ryan Aeronautical ST3KR. As we explain to our private Los Angeles tour guests the flight path and circumstances of the unfortunate accident someone exclaims, “He was so close to the runway.” Yes, he almost made it back. Almost, but not quite. He severely damaged his aircraft (totaled?) and suffered some significant injuries himself. He will have left the hospital and be on the road to recovery as you read this. We wish him good health and a smooth flying and we are really looking forward to seeing Han Solo in the next Star Wars installment (THE FORCE AWAKENS) at the end of this year.
