The Next Vanna White on Our Los Angeles Tour
Our Private Tour Guest Shows Good Form
at the Hollywood Sign
Even when there are clouds obscuring the sun our Hollywood days are bright enough to make sunglasses de rigueur when we visit the Hollywood Sign on a private Los Angeles tour. Our young guest was incredibly photogenic and imagined herself standing in for the lovely Vanna White on Wheel of Fortune as she posed with the sign in the background. She was also completely intrigued by the history of the sign recounted by her guide, not only its humble origin in 1923 as a billboard for a land development company (the sign then read HOLLYWOODLAND) but the sad tale of Peg Entwhistle who ended her life leaping from the sign as well as some of the odd and unusual pranks played with the sign’s 30′ tall letters. No matter how we customize our tours to focus on the interests of our guests we inevitably drive up into Beachwood Canyon to get to one of the many locations we like to use with our guests to not only see the iconic landmark but also the beautiful Lake Hollywood and the view over Hollywood and the Los Angeles basin to the Pacific Ocean. On clear days you can see for miles and miles and miles and miles…even to Catalina Island and Palos Verdes.
