Jean-Luc Picard Beams Down to Hollywood
Our Private Tour Turns Out to Be Trekkies
“Quick, pull over, I just saw Jean-Luc Picard,” cries one of our Los Angeles private tour guests as the SUV arrived near the Hollywood and Highland Center. Seldom do we get such an excited desire to pull over as this time but the tour guide quickly parked the vehicle and the group went in search of the much revered captain of the Starship Enterprise (Star Trek: The Next Generation). This being the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek there is a general awareness of the importance of this time and what five decades of Gene Roddenberry‘s dream have wrought. That Captain Picard would transport himself here, three centuries into the past, is not all that remarkable. What Star Trek person would want to miss the chance to be part of the celebration? Whether or not Forever 21 is the right place for Picard to pick up a new outfit for his visit is beside the point. His walking around on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in his United Federation of Planets starship uniform is perfectly appropriate. Here he can confer with Darth Vader and Chewbacca, even Yoda. Many of us are waiting for the Orion beauty, Gaila, to show up for photographs with visitors to Hollywood.
