The One-Eyed Gypsy Will Get you Tipsy in Los Angeles
This eye-catching building is one of the great nightspots around downtown Los Angeles. The One-Eyed Gypsy offers good bar food and excellent drinks and along with the lively live music make the inside of the building as entertaining as the outside. Operated continuously since the turn of the last century, mostly as a bar but with other more sordid incarnations along the way, this spot rocks in the evening and is symbolic of the revitalization of downtown Los Angeles. Located on East 1st Street at the foot of one of those decorative bridges rising over the concrete flow of the Los Angeles River, it is just outside Little Tokyo and near Union Station. In other words, it is easy to get to and worth investigating. When we have our private luxury tour guests aboard our custom van and are sightseeing with them through downtown Los Angeles, one of the things we like to do is find the interesting buildings — interesting either architecturally or historically. The One-Eyed Gypsy is both — a unique construction and a history in the form of ghosts of a dark past. The One-Eyed Gypsy also fits in well with our Dark Side Tour.
