I Am Kubrick! No, I Am Kubrick!
A film made by Stanley Kubrick certainly will be on anyone’s list of Top Ten movies made or loved, from 2001: A Space Odyssey to Lolita to Spartacus. His films embodied grand visions no matter the material from which he started. His influence in post-modern filmmaking is profound.
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is honoring the great filmmaker with a special exhibit dedicated to his work running through June. Photographs, scripts, props, costumes and equipment are on display to take you back to the making of some of his greatest movies. Also, the museum currently is running a Kubrick film series in their theater. We recommend seeing movies here because only the movie is screened (no commercials or trailers or notices) and the curated show begins with a presentation of salient information as background before the film starts. It’s like seeing the movie in a museum — which it is!
We stop regularly at LACMA during our private luxury tours around Los Angeles as we are sightseeing through Hollywood and Beverly Hills. We like to bring to the attention of our guests fun things to do in Los Angeles as we show them the outstanding art installations placed around the museum grounds so we talk about the exhibits and film series and suggest they return on their own to enjoy what LACMA has to offer.
