Chinese Theater to Go IMAX
Our Los Angeles Tour Just Got Bigger
The newly minted TCL Chinese Theater (always Grauman’s Chinese Theater to us lovers of old Hollywood) has announced that it will close down several months this summer as it converts the theater to become the largest IMAX theater auditorium in the world. While it will only offer the third largest screen in North America there will be more movie history in those seats than in all the other IMAXs put together. Happily, during construction we will still be able to show our private Hollywood tour guests around the theater forecourt so they can see the hand and footprints of celebrated movie stars since the Hollywood era and the handprint ceremony began back in 1928. This will be the 732nd IMAX theater in the world and still one of the great movie theaters to watch a film. We know we will be in line for the first film offered at the newest of the world’s IMAX theaters.
