Beverly Hills City Hall — A Jewel

Private Beverly Hills Tour Guests Love City Hall

The beautiful and majestic Beverly Hills City Hall has gracefully towered over the city as a beloved landmark and symbol since 1932.  Designed by architect William Gage in a classic Spanish-Renaissance architectural theme, the structure is divided into three distinct sections:

1.  The low horizontal classical base, which represents government

2.  The eight-story vertical tower, which represents commerce

3.  The tiled dome and gilded cupola, at the very top, visible from all areas of the city

Often seen in movies and television, most notably Beverly Hills Cop where it stood in as the police station, this beautiful structure and the public art on display on the lawns around the building always delight our private Los Angeles tour guests when we are showing them Beverly Hills.

A major restoration and renovation effort began in 1982 with final seismic reinforcements continuing into the mid-2000’s.  The building has been retrofitted, as have many in the city, to withstand and survive (with minimal damage) a theoretical 9.0 earthquake, the largest many of our scientists and geologists believe can be generated by the section of the San Andreas Fault closest to Los Angeles.  We may someday find out if they’re right…
