Looking for a Great Oscar Party? How About Catalina Island?
We anticipate that many of our private Los Angeles tour guests will not be on the Oscar guest list at the Dolby Theatre this year. We are offering them ideas as to the best places to watch the Academy Awards that will make their visit to Los Angeles extra special. One of our suggestions is the An Evening with Oscar Gala being hosted by the Catalina Island Medical Center Foundation. This black tie optional event will take place in the Avalon Casino Ballroom, 25 miles offshore from Los Angeles. Food, dancing and silent auctions to raise money for a good cause will make for an enchanting evening as the world celebrates Hollywood and the movies.
Here are our private luxury tour guests, the Saldukas family, visiting the Blossom Room inside the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. Why are they so impressed? This is where the first Academy Awards ceremony was held. Those light fixtures, that rug — ORIGINAL! Well, so we have been told by hotel staff members and we choose to believe it. Join us for a tour of historic Hollywood as well as Beverly Hills and Bel Air. We’ll show you amazing Los Angeles sights including celebrity homes, famous shops on Rodeo Drive, and special places where the movie stars are.
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science does not sell tickets to the Oscars. So, if you are not invited there is only one way that you could potentially be a part of the event and close to all of the red carpet action. The Academy holds a random drawing each year that allows winners to sit in the bleacher seats located at the top of the red carpet adjacent to the Kodak Theater.
This timethe entry period for the drawing was between September 14, 2009 through 11:59:59 PM EDT on September 20, 2009, to enter the random drawing for an opportunity to sit in the bleacher seats (up to 4 total), outside the Kodak Theatre at the 82nd Academy Awards on March 7, 2010. In the weeks approaching, Hollywood tours showcase the Kodak theater as preparations begin and “industry buzz” fills the air regarding everything from “winners to be” to the to the red carpets wardrobe.
