Grauman’s Chinese Theater Continues Tradition in Hollywood
Our Los Angeles private tour guests suggested it was a coincidence that the Hand and Footprint ceremony for Tim Burton at the famed Grauman’s Chinese Theater was just before the opening of his newest film, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Their very knowledgeable tour guide, a former film marketing specialist at one of our great studios, informed them that these ceremonies are just part of the film marketing machinery that we are so familiar with here in Hollywood. Tim is in town for the premiere of the film and will appear on late night television, radio shows and a blitz of media meetings to promote his new movie. That he is also being honored among almost 100 years of great movie stars and directors in the courtyard of Sid Grauman’s movie palace (now TCL Chinese Theatre) is just a nice touch and probably a fun interlude in the crush of appointments with entertainment writers and broadcasters. When we schedule our custom tours of Los Angeles for guests we always check to see if something like this is scheduled and suggest to our guests that we time our excursion to be able to participate.
Lucky Private Tour Group Watches Ceremony
Our guests do not plan to attend a Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony when they make arrangements with us for a custom private tour of Los Angeles. They just want to see the sights and pick our brains for what to do and see to fully enjoy their visit to the capital of southern California. However, always on their minds is the possibility of seeing a movie star in person. Fortunately for them we keep track of public events where there will be celebrities and if our tour timing and route align properly we suddenly find ourselves where a ceremony or event is happening. Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremonies are just one of the many ways we put our guests in front of popular stars. Melissa McCarthy, whose new movie SPY just opened, recently was honored with the 2,552nd star on the fabled walkway. Her friend Ellen Degeneres paid homage in a fun and spirited way and we were there with a couple of our custom tours out that morning. Good timing? Maybe. Good planning? Definitely.
We Will Take Our Private Tour to See the Ceremony
We love bringing our private Los Angeles tour guests to the Hollywood Walk of Fame when there is a star ceremony happening. A real celebrity sighting, several in this case, and a fitting celebration of a performer’s body of work and contributions to their area of entertainment. Kaley Cuoco will be so honored this coming Wednesday, October 29th at 11:30 a.m. We will stop near the intersection of Cherokee and Hollywood Boulevard where the crowd will be gathered to see and hear Kaley and her pals from The Big Bang Theory become a part of Hollywood history. Those unable to attend the ceremony can watch the live streaming version on the Walk of Fame website. The website is also a good place to locate the Walk of Fame stars of your favorite movie stars, musicians, television actors, and any of the myriad people who have made Hollywood and the Walk of Fame a major destination in Los Angeles.
Mel Brooks Honored and
Our Private Tour Was There
Our crack staff pores over press releases and monitors Hollywood websites, always wanting to know what is happening, when and where. We love to impress our private Los Angeles tour guests by stopping by special ceremonies and events during their custom luxury tour with us. Who wouldn’t want photographs of Mel Brooks in their tour album at the end of the day? This was Mel’s day, for sure. Finally, on the 40th anniversary of YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, Mel got to play in the wet cement and become a part of immortal Hollywood for all visitors to come who will visit the historic Grauman’s Chinese Theater forecourt. And how important was it to Mr. Brooks? He grew an extra finger for the occasion. Jimmy Durante‘s nose, John Barrymore‘s facial profile, John Wayne‘s fist and now Mel Brook’s six-fingered hand will be there for everyone to think about and be thankful that he came along and entertained us for so long with so many great movies.
This is a Ceremony Our Los Angeles Tour Guests Will Insist on Seeing
Yes, that is Orlando Bloom pictured above. You may remember him as Legolas in the Lord of the Rings films or Will Turner in the Pirates of the Caribbean series. True fans will know him in other films and on Broadway stages in London and New York. Today Orlando will receive a permanent place on the sidewalk between Grauman’s Chinese Theater and Madame Tussaud’s as the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce presents him with the 2,521st Hollywood Walk of Fame star for his contributions to motion pictures. The 37-year old actor still makes hearts flutter when he appears in his films of the past 20 years. Imagine seeing him in person? We and our private Los Angeles tour guests out to sightsee in Hollywood at 11:30 a.m. will certainly be stopping by to watch the ceremony. Expected guests will be Forest Whitaker and British theater director David Leveaux. If you cannot get to the ceremony you should watch the celebration on your favorite internet device at the Walk of Fame website.
A Monday Stop For All Our Los Angeles Tour Guests
Kate Winslet is in town! The beautiful and talented star of so many of our favorite films will be honored Monday morning, 11:00 a.m. in front of the W Hotel, with the 2,520th star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. Not only that, but Kathy Bates and James Cameron will be there to participate in the ceremony. That will be a Titanic moment! As you might know, her next film, Divergent, a sci-fi thriller, opens next Friday. Our custom black vans will be nearby for the ceremony as we always are giving our private Los Angeles tour guests a chance to witness the event and take pictures. We, too, will have our camera out for photographs to add to their tour album. If you are unable to attend be sure to watch the live stream (link here).
Our Los Angeles Tour Guests Will See a Star Today
Today at 11:30 a.m. in front of that historic Hollywood steak and martini palace, Musso and Frank Grill, writer/director/actor Paul Mazursky will be honored with the 2,515 star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This director wrote and directed such classics as Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice (1969), Harry and Tonto (1974), An Unmarried Woman (1978) and Down and Out in Beverly Hills (1986). His quirky, character-driven films garnered consider critical acclaim and drew film viewers into the world of independent features. A friend and fan of Paul’s is Mel Brooks who will speak at today’s ceremony. Remember, if you can’t be there like our private Hollywood tour guests will you can watch the ceremony live on the Walk of Fame website.
You Don’t Have to Tell Our Los Angeles Tour Guide
We know. We follow these events closely because they are public and star-filled and very exciting spectacles for our private Los Angeles tour guests. This morning at 11:30 a.m., Jennifer Hudson will receive a Recording Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in front of the W Hotel in a ceremony she certainly deserves. She could easily have a live performance or film star to go along with this one. With an Academy Award (Dreamgirls) and a Grammy, and many other major awards and nominations, she is already a show business legend. Her recent memoir I Got This: How I Changed My Ways, Found Myself and Lost Everything that Weighed Me Down continues to inspire readers everywhere. Our private tour guests will be there. You should be too. If not, remember the ceremony will be live-streamed from the Walk of Fame website so there is no excuse for missing this Hollywood event.
Our Private Tour Gets to See Stars
Later this morning our guides will be taking their luxury Los Angeles tours over to Hollywood Boulevard near Vine Street to witness the Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony for Mariska Hargitay, one of the stars of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. This Los Angeles native, daughter of film star Jayne Mansfield, will receive star number 2,511. More important, Mariska’s star will be embedded in the walk right beside that of her mother. We will not be surprised to see some Mickey Hargitay (her father) landscape trucks in the vicinity tomorrow. Hillary Swank and Dick Wolf will be special guests at the ceremony. As caring and generous as her character, Olivia Benson, Mariska is associated with a number of important charities and service organizations. Joyful Heart is an organization she started to help victims of domestic abuse and their families. She is a star among stars. If you have time you should go to Hollywood to see the ceremony: 11:30 a.m., 6328 Hollywood Boulevard.
Our Luxury Tour Guests See Miss Congeniality Get the Wet Cement Treatment
Hollywood has been busy lately putting stars in the sidewalk and handprints in wet cement. Yesterday our private Los Angeles tour guests were delighted to find themselves at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in time to see Sandra Bullock honored in what can be likened to Hollywood’s Hall of Fame – the Chinese Theater forecourt. Photographers from journals published around the world (as well as our intrepid and pushy guide) and plenty of fans and well-wishers were also there to see the beautiful actress make yet another mark in the history of Hollywood films. With a poster of her newest film behind her (Alfonso Cuaron’s outer space thriller GRAVITY with George Clooney) she graciously posed for the cameras and then knelt to place her hands in the wet goop for posterity.
