Our Private Tour Waves to Santa Who
Soars above Beverly Hills
Beverly Hills is one of the best decorated cities around when it comes to the winter holidays. Despite there being no snow Santa Claus is still wearing his full winter outfit and his tiny reindeer are jacketed even in the balmy southern California sunshine. Day or night the signs of Christmas are all around especially in the store windows along Rodeo Drive and throughout the Golden Triangle. Join us for a private Los Angeles tour and let us take you around to see the decorations and enjoy the holiday spirit throughout the city and along the beaches. Want more holiday magic? Plan an after dark tour so we can visit the neighborhoods with the best holiday light shows and then Christmas Tree Lane in Altadena.
Miss Your Office Party? See How We Do It in
Los Angeles Right after Your Private Tour
It is the last week of this show’s 19th season and a chance for regulars and curious theatergoers to enjoy an irreverent look at the traditional end of the year office holiday party. This unforgettable collection of characters, many of whom you will know from your own life experience, will have your sides splitting and your lips spitting in uproarious laughter. You will also recognize many of the actors from your favorite commercials and billboards and soon understand why these people do not want to work in an office. It is all in good fun and the characters, the actors and the audience will feel the holiday spirit and leave the theater uplifted and energized, ready to take on Christmas no matter what happens. They’ve already seen the worst. If our private Los Angeles tour is too highbrow and informative for you then Bob’s Holiday Office Party is the way back to ground level (and below).
Our Los Angeles Tour Stops for Lights
Christmas lights, that is. We stop in the evening to photograph the best of the distinguished buildings decorated for the holidays. This is the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, affectionately known to movie lovers as the Pretty Woman hotel (key scenes filmed here), lit up at night with colors and designs to illuminate the season and please the eyes of passersby. With the sun setting so early our afternoon Los Angeles tour guests get to see more than just the regular night lighting of a city of lights as spectacular as Paris, but also the holiday additions to those expected illuminations. Now light comes forth from businesses and from residences. We could do a tour just of holiday lights.
His Job Here Done Our Tour Guests Wave Goodbye to Santa in Beverly Hills
One of the flashiest holiday displays we show our private Los Angeles tour guests is Santa and his reindeer, including Rudolph in the lead, flying over Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills. This wonderful display has been placed here for years and years (long before color film) and never fails to impress everyone who sees it. Even without the snow, thank goodness, we can for a moment truly believe in the spirit of Christmas.
Tour Groups See the Movie Studio Tree
As we move past the Paramount Studios lot on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood on a private Los Angeles tour we can look into the Bronson Gate and see the large evergreen tree set up for the holidays. While it does obscure the famous former entrance to the studio it does please the stalwart filmmakers and studio employees working on the movies and television shows we all love. Paramount holiday parties are excellent and well remembered by past and present employees. One of the studio’s most beloved and respected figures, A.C. Lyles, passed away recently but we know his spirit is atop the tree wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Our Tour Guests Love the Roosevelt Christmas Tree
The Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, erected about the same time as Grauman’s Chinese Theater across the street when Hollywood and the movies were in their infancy, is a treasured sightseeing destination for our private Los Angeles tour guests. Once home to stars Marilyn Monroe and Montgomery Clift, and certainly a place to stay and dine for many other celebrities over all these years, the Spanish-style design impresses everyone who walks by and enters. We are sure the cast of Entourage enjoyed all their days filming in this beautiful structure and thinking back to the first Academy Awards dinner and ceremony in the Blossom banquet room off the lobby. During the holidays we and our guests enjoy the added attraction of an exquisite Christmas tree standing in the lobby.
Hollywood Tour Follows Road to Christmas
The Hollywood and Highland Center, designed to recall a momentous film set built nearby for an epic silent film (Intolerance, D.W. Griffith, 1916) , is also oriented so that looking through the mall you will see the Hollywood Sign. The giant Christmas tree adorning the center of the mall obscures the sign in our photo. Also, it sits on top of the Path to Stardom, the endearing colored trail that winds through the Hollywood and Highland center with quotes from celebrities about their particular road to Hollywood fame. Private Los Angeles tour guests visiting Hollywood with us really enjoy this destination. Food, snacks and goodies aplenty plus the adjacent Dolby Theater, Chinese Theatre, El Capitan Theater and other fun Hollywood sights and sounds make this a joyful holiday tour stop.
Perfect Private Tour Event at the Fairmont
Visiting the Fairmont Hotel in Santa Monica recently to gather some guests for a private luxury tour of Los Angeles we grabbed a photograph of the posted invitiation to join the staff, guests and visitors for a holiday event under the giant Moreton Bay Fig tree in the courtyard. Upon further investigation we learned that Santa Claus will be present as well as some of his favorite musicians to entertain the gathered holiday revelers. There will, of course, be food and refreshments, activities appropriate for guests of all ages, and a genuine sharing of peace and joy. We will be there this afternoon possibly with our luxury tour guests. Just look for the snazzy black van and the glasses of eggnog and join us to celebrate the holiday season.
Before the Christmas Tree Lane Tours Begin
Nearly a mile long, the blocks of Santa Rosa Avenue in Altadena between Woodbury Road and Altadena Drive are famous as Christmas Tree Lane. The lane needs its lights strung at this time of the year, a volunteer activity. If you want something fun to do and, in particular, if you like to climb trees, then plan a visit to the neighborhood any Saturday or Sunday before December 14th and lend your assistance. Coffee, hot chocolate and donuts are served at 9:00 a.m. and work continues until noon when lunch is served. More than one hundred 100+ year old deodar conifers line the street and need to have lights restrung every year. This tradition of lighting the trees has been going on since 1920. The weather is mild and the neighbors are fantastic. As a historic landmark anyone helping out becomes a part of history. Our private Los Angeles tours will be making regular trips to Christmas Tree Lane closer to the holiday as it is a truly magnificent and beautiful sight at Christmastime.
