Like Our Los Angeles Tour Guests the Circus is in Town
Rising from the sand for a brief period are the whimsical blue and yellow tents of Cirque du Soleil. Once again in Santa Monica for a winter performance, their show this year, Totem, looks at the evolution of a species from amphibian to bird, a metaphysical journey from the water to the skies involving acrobatics, dance and humor. Entering its fourth year, Totem already has been seen by more than 2 million people and the next two months on the Santa Monica beach will add a significant number to the Totem total. With 19 different shows being performed around the world you can say that the sun never sets on Cirque du Soleil despite that being the subject of our private tour photograph today.
KOOZA is a return to the origins of Cirque du Soleil and runs in Santa Monica from October 16th to November 29th 2009! KOOZA tells the story of The Innocent, a melancholy loner in search of his place in the world. It combines two circus traditions Рacrobatic performance and the art of clowning. The show highlights the physical demands of human performance in all its splendor and fragility, presented in a colorful m̩lange that emphasizes bold slapstick humor.
The Innocent’s journey brings him into contact with a panoply of comic characters such as the King, the Trickster, the Pickpocket, and the Obnoxious Tourist and his Bad Dog.
Between strength and fragility, laughter and smiles, turmoil and harmony, KOOZA explores themes of fear, identity, recognition and power. Perfect t0o include after a Hollywood tour, the show is set in an electrifying and exotic visual world full of surprises, thrills, chills, audacity and total involvement.
