Have a Booming Independence Day!

Photograph of July 4th fireworks at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CAThere are over 400 firework displays across the United States at sundown on July 4th.  One of the biggest and the best is the pyrotechnic show culminating a day of fun and celebration at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA.  The field in front of the stadium is open all day to Independence Day revelers and the Family Fun Zone offers games and treats for everyone.  Music, bands, parachutists and special military aircraft flyovers makes for a great day of patriotism and summer enjoyment.  We plan be there ourselves and probably with out-of-town visitors who have loved their private, luxury tour of Hollywood, Beverly Hills and maybe even Venice and Malibu (custom tours are our specialty) and who want to see the grandaddy of fireworks shows while they are in Los Angeles.

The fireworks themselves are presented by Pyro Spectaculars from nearby Rialto, CA.  A family business since the early 1900′s in San Francisco, Manuel de Souza had his business grow and flourish with each successor — Alfred, then Bob and now Manuel’s great-grandson Jim.  In the wings are Jim’s sons Paul and Christopher, both licensed fireworks technicians.  The company offers a 2-year training program if you are interested in bombs bursting in air and rockets red glare.

A Safe and Happy
4th of July to everyone

Barry Manilow Lights Up the Skies

Photo of Hollywood Bowl 4th of July FireworksOne of the great Los Angeles Independence Day traditions is the 4th of July Hollywood Bowl concert and fireworks display.  This year topping the bill will be Barry Manilow.  He writes the songs.

Since 1969 the Hollywood Bowl has incorporated fireworks into the July 4th concerts which thrill and delight the 18,000 fans seated up the hill admiring the orchestra shell illuminated against the darkening Hollywood hills.  Great music, either your own picnic dinner or a choice of excellent food available at the Bowl, you have in store a super special patriotic evening.

Photo portrait of Barry ManilowWe often visit the Hollywood Bowl with our private tour guests here in Los Angeles to see Hollywood, celebrity homes in Beverly Hills and Bel Air and the nearby beach communities.  During the day the area is just a park with a history museum and a great band shell so on a custom luxury tour we can walk around and take photographs and talk about Los Angeles in the 1920′s when the Bowl began.
