LAX – Gateway to Los Angeles and Start of Private Tour
Think about it – 75 Million people in and out of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) last year. Talk about busy airports. LAX is the largest and busiest airport on this side of the country and handles domestic and international flights from all over the world. With its four runways and six main passenger terminals the airport is a major hub of activity all hours of the day and all days of the year. It can be a bit intimidating to less experienced travelers on the best of days. Considering there are constant construction projects and you can understand why passenger flow and traffic in and around the terminals can be daunting. We offer to help our guests who manage their arrival time to also be a start time for a private tour of Los Angeles. That way we can meet them at the airport, show they the best parts of the city, and at the conclusion of their tour drop them and their luggage at the hotel where they are staying. We make these arrangements often because our guests appreciate the service. We can also plan the converse where we pick up our guests and baggage at their hotel, go sightseeing, and then drop them off at the airport before their return flight home. Since our guests also arrive in Los Angeles by cruise ship and train we can make similar pick up and drop off plans at Union Station or the Cruise Ship terminals in San Pedro and Long Beach. When these arrangements work out just right it is absolutely the best way to go. See you at LAX.
Always Safe for a Los Angeles Tour Pickup at LAX
Working dogs are very present throughout Los Angeles. The first place our private Los Angeles tour guests will encounter them is at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Here we recently met Kira, a Belgian Malinois that posed so perfectly for us we knew she must be thinking of a Hollywood movie career when she retires from the Los Angeles Police Department. K9 units can be seen everywhere not to mention the number of companion and guide dogs that populate our busy city. We, too, welcome dogs aboard our tours and even have a special K9 Los Angeles tour designed just for families wanting to bring their furry friends along to see Los Angeles (we even keep doggie treats in our snack basket).
Pet a Pup at LAX to Relax
If you arrive at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and are greeted by red vested dogs in the terminal feel free to kneel down for a welcome lick and pet the pooch as much as you want. This is not a security measure. Pets Unstressing Passengers (PUP) is the name of the program instituted at LAX that has teams of dogs and trainers roaming the terminals and providing harried passengers a chance to unwind and take a deep breath when they pet these wonderful animals. The program began at LAX in April and the airport authority is so pleased with the results that plans to expand the program are underway. Right now they have 30 perfect puppies sniffing and panting and doing that thing dogs do to make everyone smile.
We usually meet our private Los Angeles tour guests outside the terminal to show them around Los Angeles before dropping them off at their hotel or back at the airport if they are only touring while on a flight layover. Perhaps we will start meeting our guests in the terminal so we, who are all so dedicated to dogs, can meet the PUPs. By the way, we happily invite our guests to bring their dogs along on our private custom canine tour. We know the best celebrity dog parks in Los Angeles, Hollywood and Beverly Hills and will stock our vehicle with dog treats as well as people treats.

U.S. Coast Guard helicopters are not to be mistaken for any other. The U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles is located at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The unit started as an aviation detachment in 1962 with two HO-4s helicopters and has since grown to a station supporting four HH-65C “Dolphin” Helicopters. Air Station Los Angeles maintains a Search and Rescue helicopter 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is responsible for protecting the coastal area of Southern California from Dana Point to Morro Bay. On average, 200 SAR (search and rescue) cases are prosecuted every year. In addition to SAR, Air Station LA helicopters provide Homeland Security Patrols for the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, and Port Hueneme in Ventura County.
The Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach comprise the largest cargo seaport in the United States and the fifth busiest in the world moving over 15 million containers every year. In Addition to container traffic, the seaport is also the largest Cruise Ship port on the west coast. Additional Homeland Security responsibilities include the over water approach and departure corridors for Los Angeles International Airport, which handles more international flights than any other airport in the country. Over 60 million passengers on California tours, ect. and 1.8 millions tons of cargo travel through LAX each year. Finally, Air Station Los Angeles helicopters and personnel protect the ecologically rich waters surrounding the Channel Islands National Parks.
