The Marina del Rey Ritz-Carlton is Perfect for Our Private Tour Guests
Los Angeles is fortunate to have not just one but two Ritz-Carlton hotels to serve visitors to our part of Southern California. We love them both. The downtown Ritz-Carlton is a central part of the new L.A. Live center in the southern part of the city core where all new buildings and activities have been springing up of late. Restaurants, museums, theaters are making downtown alive even after hours and one weekends. For a more placid stay in the area there is also the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey (“MDR”), right on the ocean. The luxury hotel is walking distance to Venice Beach and the bohemian seashore energy that has always been there. Or guests can enjoy the offerings of the largest man-made marina in the U.S. We run our yacht tours up and down the coast and to Catalina Island from here which makes it very convenient for our guests staying at the Ritz-Carlton MDR. The hotel is also close to the Santa Monica Airport where we can board one of our spacious twin-engine helicopters for an aerial sightseeing adventure up to Malibu and then over Beverly Hills and Hollywood to downtown before circling back. We notice at this time of year that the NBA teams here to play the Lakers or Clippers seem to like the Ritz (is it the large beds or the nutritious servings in the hotel restaurant, the Cast and Plow). If you are planning a visit to Los Angeles you should consider staying where tours by land, sea and air are equally convenient.
Our Private Tour Guests Love Blue
We flew low along the coast north of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) past the wide waterway that connects Marina del Rey‘s expansive docks and moorings with Santa Monica Bay. The channel was busy with boating activities as it usually is but especially so on this nice summer day. The narrow ribbon of blue on the right in our private Los Angeles tour photo is Ballona Creek. We often see the UCLA crew out practicing in their sculls along here. Many of our guests stay in Marina del Rey and begin their tours here on the coast. We work inland in our road vehicle toward Hollywood, Beverly Hills and downtown Los Angeles. The helicopter tour gives our visitors a chance to see where all the neighborhoods are relative to one another as well as to take note of the rivers and coastal waters on this western edge of the city while appreciating the mountains to the north and east. Every view of Los Angeles is spectacular.
Start a Luxury Tour from a Luxury Hotel
Here is a coastal resort in Los Angeles favored by professional sports teams and celebrities alike, the Ritz-Carlton at Marina del Rey. With a choice to swim in the ocean or in the giant pool there is a true comfort to the facilities as well as the accommodations so close to downtown Los Angeles (and the Staples Center and Dodger Stadium). We begin our private yacht tours in the adjacent marina or entertain our ground tour guests with a drive over to the quaint Fisherman’s Village nearby. Our private Los Angeles tour visitors are always eager to drive the short distance to see Venice beach and the boardwalk and then up the coast to Santa Monica and perhaps Malibu. Otherwise, Culver City and Sony (once MGM) Studios is close by and we can then jaunt over to Beverly Hills and Hollywood. Santa Monica Airport is handy if our guests are eager for a helicopter flight above and around the city before beginning their ground tour. Guests of a luxury hotel should always expect VIP treatment on their tours and adventures which we are pleased to provide.
Where Our Private Yacht Tour Begins
This is that time of year where we get requests for private adventure tours of Los Angeles beaches from aboard a luxury yacht (is that redundant?). We often share photos taken from the vessel of the Venice Beach, Santa Monica and Malibu shores and the marine animals that invariably follow us. But this aerial photograph of Marina del Rey shows where we generally board our yacht. Marina del Rey is a tiny community (~1.5 sq. miles) that includes the largest man made small craft harbor in the U.S. This marina area has a capacity of almost 6,000 sailing vessels. Our sailing adventure tours leave the marina and head north along the bay coast to see the fine resorts and celebrity beach homes along the way up to Malibu. We always serve a gourmet lunch. Marina del Rey is also home to several fine hotels and large theme restaurants and is walking distance to the Venice Beach Boardwalk.
A Fine Place to Begin a Private Los Angeles Beach Tour
Our custom luxury van perfectly suits the porte-cochere and entrance at the Ritz-Carlton Marina del Rey. We make plenty of stops here to pick up hotel guests for their private tour of Los Angeles beaches before heading over to Beverly Hills and Hollywood. We also regularly drive right over to Santa Monica Airport to board a helicopter for an aerial tour of Los Angeles before or after an accompanying ground tour. Nothing goes better with a stay in a luxury resort than a luxury tour of the city. Make sure our special van is waiting outside the hotel for you on your next visit to Los Angeles. What else? The Ritz-Carlton welcomes pets (even has a dog trail). We, too, have a special canine tour just for Los Angeles visitors and their dogs.
Like a matching set, the downtown Ritz-Carlton is paired with its ever-so-classy sister resort located about 14 miles away on the water in Marina del Rey. Near both Los Angeles International Airport and the Santa Monica airport (where we can land our helicopters for private luxury tours of the airborne variety), the resort is also walking distance to the Venice Boardwalk and a lovely bicycle or skate ride (maybe even a Segway for the adventurous) along the beach to Santa Monica. You can also just stay in the resort for gourmet dining, a quality fitness center, pool, spa and all the luxury amenities you expect from the Ritz-Carlton. It’s no wonder professional sports teams stay here while they are competing in Los Angeles. And we do not want to forget to acknowledge our great friends on the concierge staff who know everything we do about Los Angeles (OK, maybe a bit more in some regards). We enjoy every opportunity we get to talk with them when we are at the hotel to pick up their guests for grand sightseeing tours around Los Angeles — studios, celebrity homes, historic and not so historic local destinations in Hollywood and Beverly Hills and up the coast to Malibu. Perfect weather year round on the largest man-made marina in the nation, yes, this is where we would stay when visiting Los Angeles and southern California.
