Hollywood and Vine Once Upon a Time

Archival photo (1950) of Hollywood and VineWe always stop on our private luxury tour of Los Angeles at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine as we enter Hollywood.  Just the name of the intersection is familiar to almost every guest we bring here.  We point out the Pantages Theater, the Frolic Room, Capital Records and the Walk of Fame and the four corner spotlights.  The intersection is much changed from this 1950 archival photograph (right) and the 1962 photo (below).  The W Hotel is here as is the Redbury Hotel.  The Brown Derby is gone but Dillon’s Irish Pub can feed and lubricate you at the corner now.

1962 archival photograph of Hollywood and VineSome of the best Walk of Fame celebrities surround the intersection where the star studded sidewalk extends north and south on Vine Street. No sightseeing tour of Los Angeles should miss a visit to this special intersection.  Celebrity homes, Beverly Hills and Malibu are all fun to see but standing at Hollywood and Vine is really connecting with Hollywood history.

Enjoy the Book of Mormon at the Pantages

Photo of scene from Book of Mormon at the Pantages Theater

It’s here … the Book of Mormon has finally arrived in Los Angeles from Broadway.  This delightful and irreverent look at the religion of one of our presidential candidates will probably not shock and offend its audience as much as provoke and titillate them with copious amounts of laughter and mirth.  Let’s not forget the snappy tunes and big Broadway dance numbers.  What else would you expect from this Tony Award winning production from those South Park guys, Matt Stone and Trey Parker?  Playing at the historic Pantages Theater on Hollywood Boulevard, this great entertainment venue is a key stopping point for our private luxury tours in Hollywood before heading over to Beverly Hills.  The Pantages stands at the eastern end of the Hollywood Walk of Fame in an area that is steadily gaining in popularity not seen here since the 1940s.  Restaurants, clubs, new hotels, shopping — Hollywood and Vine is becoming the “In” place it should be.  See The Book of Mormon, playing through November 25th.
