Our Private Tour Has Eyes on the Stars at FINDING DORY Premiere
While their tour guide knew exactly what was happening and was mindful of the timing of the private custom tour of Los Angeles he was leading, his guests began to suspect something was going on, something big, as they came into Hollywood. Sure enough, Hollywood Boulevard in front of Disney’s El Capitan Theater was blocked off and carpeted in blue (not red!) for the arrival of the stars of the new animated feature FINDING DORY. This ocean based family adventure is a sequel to the very successful first film, FINDING NEMO. The excitement along the Hollywood Walk of Fame was even higher than usual as the limousines turned onto the famous street to drop off their celebrity passengers. Not a single sea creature among them. We sure hope the kids weren’t disappointed. However, if they return to the landmark El Capitan Theater another time to see the film they will be treated not only to a movie but to a short musical stage production featuring singing sea creatures from the film as well as other familiar Disney characters. With the giant organ rising from the floor and other spectacular stage magic seeing a movie here is a very special treat for youngsters and oldsters alike.
Private Tour Sees Hollywood Movie Premiere Prep
Timing is everything. Our private Los Angeles tour group arrived in Hollywood as the preparations for a big movie premiere were finishing up just before the arrival later that afternoon of the stars of the film and many of Hollywood’s biggest players. The movie was Captain America: Civil War, the next epic episode of this ongoing Marvel film series. Our family learned that a Hollywood movie premiere is as big as the Hollywood movie itself. The entire block in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theater, the Dolby Theatre (where the premiere was hosted), Disney’s El Capitan Theater and the Jimmy Kimmel theater was taken up by structures, props, lights and a whole lot of red carpet. An army of technicians and a swarm of media folks occupied the street while we and hundreds of other interested bystanders eagerly observed all the activity. Needless to say, our guests where thrilled and excited and will probably be first in line at their neighborhood theater when the movie opens on May 6th.
Our Private Tour Guests Might Get to See Movie Premiere Prep
There are four major theaters right on Hollywood Boulevard and one nearby on Sunset Boulevard where the studios can stage a big Hollywood Premiere of a new movie. These events happen quite regularly. Disney Studios use their own El Capitan theater. Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and the Egyptian Theater are also historic movie palaces suitable for setting up a red carpet walkway for the film’s stars and other moviedom celebrities to make a grand entrance for the gathered paparazzi and crowds. The somewhat new Dolby Theatre, where the Academy Awards are staged and televised, is available for premieres, too, as we see above in this 2013 photograph from a private Los Angeles tour when our guests had a chance to see the workmen preparing for the big splashy premiere of Guillermo del Toro‘s PACIFIC RIM with Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba, all of whom were there later that day. The Arclight Theaters and Cinerama Dome are a few blocks away. The chances are good that our custom tour guests will get to see what happens when a big event comes to town. Right now, it’s the Oscars, which is the granddaddy of all Hollywood events and when preparations and cleanup are evident to our guests for almost six weeks.
Star Wars Is Here for Our Private Tour
There are any number of reasons that our private Los Angeles tour guests find themselves visiting our grand city on the sea. Business, special family occasions (weddings, graduations, anniversaries), and sometimes for very special events, for instance, the Oscars ceremony. Some of our guests are here with tickets to television shows and as winners of contests. But this week we had a family in town for the premiere of the new Star Wars film. Their combination helicopter and ground tour got them over the festivities as the final touches were being put on all the preparations that included closing Hollywood Boulevard in front of Disney’s El Capitan Theater where the film would be shown. Now Hollywood is used to movie premieres and the Academy Awards is just across the street every year at the Dolby Theatre. We can marshal our construction and traffic control forces in ways that boggle an event planner’s mind. We love having our guests on VIP tours when any kind of special Hollywood event is happening so they can see the army of specialized workers and tech crews that make these events so newsworthy. After flying over the scene we returned in our luxury SUV so our guests could watch up close. We hope they had a good time at the premiere joining the multitude of Jedi enthusiasts and hopeful fans ready for another film journey to a galaxy far, far away.
Our Private Tour Guests Awed, Respectful and Excited about the Movie
The great Japanese monster amphibian stands tall in the Grauman’s Chinese Theater forecourt as the visitors of all nationalities are reminded that the latest incarnation of this beast of the nuclear era opens this Friday in the now IMAX theater. Sixty years and 28 films later, Godzilla stills manages to move a movie audience to shakes and screams. Godzilla is so important as a film icon that a star was given to the sexy beast on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in November, 2004. Go-jira is the phonetic Japanese representation of the monster’s name and stands for a cross between a whale and a gorilla. We will be sure to show our private Los Angeles tour guests Godzilla’s Walk of Fame star just down the sidewalk from the theater forecourt where his tiny alter-ego towers over the theater entrance.
Take Your Hollywood Tour to the Red Carpet
It is time to laugh until you die because Scary Movie 5 will be in movie theaters across the country starting tomorrow. But tonight the stars will still be alive and out on the red carpet at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood for the Hollywood premiere of this current installment of the successful horror film parody enterprise. If our private Los Angeles tour guests ask us who will be at the premiere we will tell them that some of the stars of the movie are Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan, Ashley Tisdale, Terry Crews, Jerry O’Connell, Molly Shannon, Heather Locklear, Chris Elliott and Kate Walsh just to name a few (lots of familiar faces, we expect, as in the other films). Any of them, all of them, might be there to see the finished film.
The Cinerama Dome is one of the finest movie theaters in Hollywood. A part of the Arclight Hollywood complex on Sunset Boulevard near Vine Street it is a real treat to see any movie in the theater at any time. Click the photograph to read a previous blog about the theater.
Sometimes we cannot show our private luxury tour guests visiting Hollywood the Chinese Theater courtyard with its celebrity hand and footprints because a studio has rented the facility for a big movie premiere. This day it was for Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer and Helena Bonham Carter in Tim Burton’s feature, DARK SHADOWS.
