Beautiful Views of the Bay on This Helicopter Tour of L.A.
We go on and on here about how perfect the Los Angeles weather is and how much our Los Angeles private tour guests appreciate the warm, clear days that greet them all through the year. What we have learned is that even on days where we complain of a little rain or fog our guests still think the weather is extraordinary. It is all relative. Our extremes of weather do not range very far so we see cool days as a threat to our existence. We have to wear jackets and caps? Oh, no. We need to find the umbrella. Heaven help us! Ok, admittedly we are weather sissies here in Southern California. Thankfully our guests bring some sense to what variations in weather mean. They are ready for a tour of Hollywood on a day when the thermometer in the SUV tells us it is only 64º by wearing shorts, t-shirts and sandals. They think it is beach weather. They look down from our luxury helicopter to an encroaching fog bank along the bay and only notice how beautiful the sight is. The Santa Monica Pier rises up where the fog seems to part and spread around but not over this funtastic beach entertainment center. They want to visit the pier when we complete our aerial tour to experience for themselves the attractions built on this local landmark. We will also take them to the Third Street Promenade to enjoy a city street turned into an outdoor shopping and entertainment mall. We are delighted they are enjoying the winter weather. After we drop them back at their hotel we can stop for a lavender hot chocolate at Demitasse.
Our Private Tour Guests Can Take Off Their Sunglasses
Cloudy skies over Los Angeles are a welcome sight in these days of our extended drought. Despite an ocean full of water we in the City of Angels are responding to the deficit of drinking water by conserving any way we can. When the skies darken and rain falls we rejoice. We hope that our private Los Angeles tour guests do, too. So far we sense they are sympathetic as they continue to join us to sightsee around downtown, Hollywood, Beverly Hills and the beaches when it does rain. We provide umbrellas and know where to stop and explore so that even a drenching downpour does not bedevil us. However, even El Niño created storms fly through Los Angeles pretty quickly. In fact, so fast that we seldom have to cancel our luxury helicopter tours. Beneath the clouds the skies are clear and we can dispense with having to wear sunglasses. The advantage to that is we get better photographs of our guests enjoying their tour and it is easier to operate our camera. Even our pilots like getting to fly without sunglasses from time to time. The Santa Monica Pier with its oceanside Ferris Wheel and rollercoaster shine colorfully even in the winter gloom. People still visit the pier and come to the beach despite the prospect of rain. It is not cold and there is fun to be had in Los Angeles during a wet winter.
Every One of Our Private Tour Guests
Master the Segway
This is definitely one of our “funnest” adventure tours of Los Angeles. We enjoy a short training course (which is all it takes) in Venice Beach and then cruise along the beach trail with the bicycles and rollerbladers. We can cover a lot of miles without getting the least bit tired. Plus we can stop along the way to admire the ocean, be awed by the skateboarders at their special skating park, ogle the body builders working out at Muscle Beach, purchase souvenirs along the boardwalk and maybe get a henna tattoo. We can also scoot up to the Santa Monica Pier enjoying the views of the fantastic beach hotels and the wide, well groomed beaches and then the historic carousel at the foot of the pier. Did we mention the snacks? There is a huge variety of food choices all along the way if standing on a motorized individual transport vehicle makes us peckish. But wait! There’s more! As masters of the Segway now we can drive to Beverly Hills and enjoy another adventure ooohing and aaahing at the fabulous mansions and homes of this incredible neighborhood. Perhaps when hoverboard technology improves we can equip our luxury SUVs with boards for every guest and be ready to scoot wherever we go. Isn’t the future great?
Private Tour Flies Over Then Drives Back
to the Santa Monica Pier
The private Los Angeles tour guests enjoying a good look at the city’s coastline on our luxury helicopter were amazed that so many people were out on the beach and the Santa Monica Pier for this fine autumn day. Los Angeles life is something so many of our guests are curious about. We fly over the city and beaches and point to all the outdoor escapes the population enjoys all through the year: hiking, fishing, surfing, horseback riding, off road activities. The nearby mountains have enough snow for skiing and snowboarding when the winter arrives with enough precipitation and cold temperatures at higher elevations. Los Angeles, an important financial and industrial metropolis, the movie capital, is also a fitness and outdoor recreation mecca. We even offer our guests hiking and fitness tours to combine sightseeing with physical activity (hiking, horseback riding, surfing lessons, bicycling, inline skating, Segways, skeet shooting, iFly – whatever they think of we arrange). As for our guests seeing the crowds at the pier we double back after the aerial tour and visit it with them so they can enjoy all the fun, too.
Our Private Tour Stops for Amusement Rides
Direct the guide driving your private Los Angeles tour to take you to the beach. There, so close to Hollywood and downtown L.A. you can ride a Ferris Wheel 130′ above the breaking waves with breathtaking views of the coast and Santa Monica Bay. Santa Monica boasts the world’s only solar powered Ferris Wheel which is illuminated with more than 160,000 LED lights. This is the latest incarnation of the 1893 invention of George Washington Gale Ferris which thrilled visitors to Chicago’s World’s Columbian Exposition and one-upped the French Eiffel Tower unveiled four years earlier. It is also the second Ferris Wheel to occupy this location on the Santa Monica Pier situated at the reputed end (or beginning) of Route 66. Pacific Park, the pier’s amusement park, offers a roller coaster and other amusement park rides as well as carnival games, souvenirs and plenty of food our custom luxury tour guests would rather their children not eat. However, the cool breeze and cleansing ocean air make the dietary indulgences acceptable. The seagulls stand around eagerly awaiting spilled popcorn and other human produced refuse not quite making it to trash receptacles.
The Days Get Longer, The Private Tour
Can Begin Later
The setting sun in Los Angeles casts a golden glow over everything but the draw of the beach is particularly strong at this time of day. Most of our L.A. beaches are south facing so dusk moves left to right as we stare off into the Santa Monica Bay. At the same time as the colorful lights begin to illuminate the attractions along the Santa Monica Pier the rides are getting busy as visitors want to witness the setting sun from the top of the Ferris Wheel. Like the shore birds our guests also begin to have urges for a seafood dinner and our guides know the best food stands for a quick meal as well as fine restaurants for something more elegant. The world is their oyster for our private Los Angeles tour guests.
Our Private Tour Sees the
Best of the Beaches
The clouds always part after a short stay in Los Angeles and the sun shines through to reveal a beautiful city. Wide beaches form the western border of our fair metropolis which draw waders, swimmers, surfers and strollers all through the year. Between Malibu and Manhattan Beach there is Santa Monica whose beach is split by a pier full of amusements, rides, souvenirs and food offerings to entertain and delight all of our private Los Angeles tour guests. We walk our guests along the palisades and look down on the homes built along the Pacific Coast Highway, some historic movie star homes built in the 1920s when there was not much else around here and it seemed a long drive through open space back to Hollywood. Whether you are here for the sunshine or sightseeing be sure to direct your luxury private tour guide to bring you to the beaches of Los Angeles.
Private Tour Walk on the Beach at Sunset
Sunsets in the winter here in Los Angeles are spectacular. Cooler temperatures mean clearer air near the ocean and the more southerly sunset illuminates the clouds in spectacular fashion. This photograph of the Santa Monica Pier came to us from a friend drawn to the shore as the light waned while we were nearby on a private Los Angeles tour of the beaches enjoying the same exquisite view. Another advantage of visiting Los Angeles in the winter (besides the great weather and southern sunsets) is that the beaches are quiet. We get them almost to ourselves as we explore Venice, Santa Monica and Malibu. It is a great time to visit Los Angeles.
Another Private Beach Tour Photo
If we do not start our private Los Angeles tour right at the beach from one of the many fine hotels where our guests like to stay then we get there anyway with our Hollywood, Beverly Hills or downtown guests. Contrary to what many of our guests this week have been talking about, the destruction of the Santa Monica Pier by a Mexican hurricane and shark-infested tornados (SHARKNADO on the SyFy Channel), the pier is just fine and showing everyone a good time. The Ferris Wheel is intact and all the food and fun stands are operating at full tilt. Live Twilight Concerts FREE every Thursday night sponsored by MySpace attract a singing, dancing, finger-snapping crowd every week. No matter what time of day or what day of the week you get to the pier, with us on a luxury tour or on your own, you will have a great time.
